Antifreeze valve for heat pumps. Maximum operating pressure 10 bar. Ambient temperature range: -40 +60°C. Maximum operating temperature 65°C (fluid temperature). Minimum operating temperature 0°C (fluid temperature).

Function:

The Icma antifreeze valve is designed to protect heat pumps in low external temperatures, activating when the pump remains inactive for a period, allowing the heat transfer fluid to approach freezing point, risking freeze damage. A typical intervention occurs during prolonged power outages, such as faults or blackouts. Under normal operation of the heat pump, it is very unlikely that the fluid temperature will fall below 3°C. In case of power failure, it is important to check the system pressure.

The antifreeze valve discharges the heat transfer fluid when the temperature drops below 3°C, preventing ice formation in the circuit and thus avoiding damage to sensitive components such as exchangers and pipes. When the fluid temperature rises to 4°C, the valve closes, restoring the system’s tightness. Additionally, the nickel plating treatment prevents corrosion caused by exposure to weather conditions.
